Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you get a chance to spend some extra time with friend and family. As for me, I am going to take advantage of the extra time with getting out for a quick marathon in the morning before I start chasing turkey. It seems like Zion is creeping up so I’ll be stepping up the mileage and frequency of my training runs. I’ll be perfectly honest that this past month has been a bit of a battle of willpower to keep the excitement and enthusiasm up in my training. But, I think its important when shooting for lofty goals that we remember that we are human and while its easy at first to be inspired somewhere in the middle you have to get back to why its so important to you to complete your challenge. So, that’s where I am right now. So, tomorrow another marathon (no organized event, just a solo 27 or so mile run) and then in 2 weeks I’m going to go for 50 miles to see where I’m at. That should be a good gauge of how much work I have to do to make it to one hundred. My goal is to have 3 50+ mile trail runs in by the beginning of April and then back it off for the last month keeping all my runs under 30 miles so I don’t tear up my knees too bad for Zion.
